Design / Build / Equipping

IJN was established on 1st August 1992 as a government heart specialist institution with 270 beds to deliver advanced standards in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine for adult and paediatric heart patients. Previously, the institute had been part of the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. Since the foundation of the institute, IJN has treated over 3.7 million patients and gained recognition as one of the leading Cardiovascular and Thoracic Centre in the region.

At its construction in 1992, VEM was the main contractor including construction, design, engineering, medical equipment package supply, commissioning and testing. The project included a 6-12 months training of IJN medical staff at the Medical University of Vienna. In 2007, during a major expansion to a 400-bed facility, VEM was engaged as the Medical Equipment planner.

This hospital is located in the Gombak district, 25km from Kuala Lumpur and spread across a 130 acres area. The hospital is developed in 1999 to cater for the increasing population growth in Klang Valley, and to help to ease the highly congested Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
